“I am Malala” Student Book Choice
Ninth and Tenth grade students are to read either:
“I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban” by Malala Yousafzai
Or
“I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World” (Young Readers Edition) by Malala Yousfzai
Both books are about the courageous actions of Malala. The difference is that The Young Readers Edition is in the voice of the young women and probably will be a book more easily read by young readers. Some book critics argue that this edition is more authentic. It is the student’s choice to choose which book. The important thing is that the student is reading.
With that in mind, this book is the required reading. We expect all students to be reading other books of their interest or in preparation for AP (Advance Placement courses) throughout the summer. Good luck with this and we look forward to hearing about your ideas concerning Malala’s heroic actions.
Thanks and enjoy....
